Why is LinkedIn more important than ever?

Filed under Entrepreneurs,LinkedIn,Organic SEO,Philadelphia,Social Media Marketing by BlogKing at 1:03 am on Dec 06 2007

Last month I attended an event by the Entrepreneurs’ Forum of Greater Philadelphia held at Villanova University School of Business. The speaker was Adam Nash, Senior Director of Product at LinkedIn. As I always recommend clients set up a LinkedIn account and link to their new blog for the SEO benefits, I was eager to hear what was up at LinkedIn.

Your most valuable asset is your professional reputation and the people who know you. LinkedIn is design to facilitate sharing these factors. LinkedIn is used by executives at all the Fortune 500 and membership is over 16 million. In fact over 200,000 are from the Philadelphia area.

He announced that LinkedIn would be supporting OpenSocial, Google’s free and open source API that will make web widget application portable across other social media sites that support it. This is huge. Here is a video of the announcement at Google.

The latest Nielsen NetRating has LinkedIn growing faster (189%) than FaceBook (125%). So if you are waiting for a engraved invitation this is it. Send me your email and I will invite you in my network[2.3 million].

Linkedin is pretty cool & it’s very professional as well. It helps in growing your contacts which will benefit you on a professional level. On Linkedin people are there for purpose than for fun. Linkedin is 1 of the popular business networking site as of now they don’t need to let anyone takeover them. And now it’s getting even more popular because people can access Linkedin a/c thru their mobiles, Even i’ve become an active user of it.

Yes, I think mobile is going to be hot also. Got my iPhone and can’t wait for the API kit release. There is going to be a ton of apps, LinkedIn is sure to be one.

I was one of the people holding out for an engraved invitation. Nonetheless, I would be happy to connect with you on LinkedIn. corey@growthinkresearch.com

Funny, I just read a recent article about LinkedIn giving Facebook a run for it’s money. I wish I had the link to it as it was pretty interesting.

Tell me, what are the main benefits of joining “linkedin” — Is it simply for networking with like-minded individuals? I think I might be interested in joining but I have no idea where to even start or what to do once I get an account.

Maybe you could shed some more light on this subject?

    Thanks,
    Eric
